70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre with a third aged in oak for 9-12 months. For Chateauneuf this is cracking value and shows ripe fruit with fat, firm Grenache character.
Before the Revolution, one of the Revoltier family was fief at Fargueirol, with the right to bear a sword. After the Revolution the family had to move and it was nearly 200 years later, in 1974 that Joseph Revoltier bought the property including 10ha of vines. It has increased to 30ha of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 10ha of Cotes du Rhone. Today Romain Revoltier is cellarmaster. The red is 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. The grapes are destemmed and undergo daily pumping-over. Ageing is for 9–12 months, a third in large foudres and demi-muids and 2/3s in cement tanks.
