From the eastern shores of Lake Garda. This is a blend of 50% Corvina and 50% Rebo but, crucially, the grapes are left on the vines for 2-3 weeks after the main harvest has finished to develop extra ripeness and concentration. Not long after Lenotti had planted a new vineyard of Corvina and Rebo grapes, the region experienced a most violent hailstorm. Hail stones the size of golf balls were reported, damaging buildings, cars and vineyards. Fortunately nobody was injured as the storm passed through in the early hours of the morning.

Giancarlo Lenotti and his foreman Gianni went and viewed the vineyard damage the next day. When they saw the damage a debate ensued. Giancarlo wanted to dig it all up and replant, but Gianni wanted to keep it, believing that he could save the vines. In the end Giancarolo relented and let Gianni do what he could, with the proviso that if nothing could be produced and the wine was not of the quality the Lenotti expected, Gianni would have to start all over again.

A few years later the first wine was produced, just a small experimental batch, and everyone was surprised. The wine was not what they expected and was of exceptional quality and Giancarlo relented and allowed Gianni to go into full production. The wine was named Capomastro (meaning "foreman") which is Gianni's job title and Capomastro goes from strength to strength.
