Dark and extracted with the body and breadth of a hot vintage, yet all under control and structured with notes of ripe hedgerow fruit and herbs. The grapes are all handpicked from 60+ year old vines. Mas de Boislauzon have been certified organic since the 2012 vintage and were working towards organic status in the preceding vintages.
Mas de Boislauzon is now run by siblings Daniel and Christine Chaussy. Just south of Orange and a mile or so west of Château de Beaucastel, it consists of 8ha of Red and 1ha of White Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The red is from 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Muscardin. Low yields of 30-35 hl/ha are handpicked from vines averaging over 60 years of age. Vinification is about 25 days at 30-32°C with délestage followed by 18-24 months in foudres.
