"Taigh" means "home" in Gaelic and this is the first permanent core release form the distillery (as opposed to their limited release Legacy Series) meaning that this is a whisky you can keep coming back to. It's a super illustration of the Torabhaig house style showing a gentle coastal smoke character, hints of sweet spices and baked apple. The palate has a vanilla character with toasted oak, nuts and dried fruits and a clean dry finish. Maturation is in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Madeira casks. I always thought I didn't like peaty whiskies, and that is still true for those that are heavily so, but I adore this! An excellent stepping stone between Highland malts and the Islay style.
