A fresh and fruity Pinot Noir with a hint of spice from a short time in cask with 30% spending just 8 months in oak. The fruit come from vineyards near the Californian coast which are sheltered by a chain of hills but still enjoy the cooling coastal breezes from which Pinot Noir benefits, keeping the vines cool and dry. This shows notes of summer fruits such as strawberry and redcurrant with a gentle hint of vanilla spice on the finish. This is elegant and poised rather than big and powerful but that's Pinot Noir at its best.
We drank half a bottle of this and stuck the remaining half in the fridge for the following evening. I'm not advocating that you should drink this chilled, but when it had warmed up enough to be just cool it really heightened the fresh summer fruit character and took the wine to a different level.
