Three great value red Riojas illustrating varying levels of oak from no oak at all, to 6 months and finally 14 months.  One bottle each of the following:

Vega Piedra 2022, Vinedos Solarena, Rioja 14.0% - 100% Tempranillo, no oak, just bright berry fruit with a hint of spice.

Hacienda Lopez de Haro Roble 2024, Bodegas Classica, Rioja 13.0% - 100% Tempranillo with 6 months in oak.  Made from vines between 50and 70 years old.  Ripe red fruit and some very gentle vanilla from the oak.

Cerro Anon Crianza 2022, Bodegas Olarra, Rioja 13.5% - 80% Tempranillo with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.  More oak here as a Crianza which beautifully enhances the ripe red fruit with classic vanilla and gentle spice.
