Quinta do Vesuvio is situated in the Upper Douro just 45km from the Spanish border.  The climate here is different to the rest of the Douro being drier and warmer meaning that Vesuvio is capable of producing top quality vintage port, even in years that are not generally declared such as 1996.  This is reckoned to be one of the best examples of Vesuvio made to date though only about 12% of the Vesuvio harvest was selected for inclusion in this vintage port.  Quality was high but volume small so there's not much of this about.

This is an intense, dark and concentrated vintage port which is now at its peak where it will remain for several years.  It has wonderful blackcurrant flavours, lots of body and that classic Vesuvio sweetness.
