Quietly complex on the nose with fresh lime notes combining with a steely minerality and gentle honeysuckle flora. The palate is mid-weight and off-dry with persistent flavours of lime, there is a natural salinity which gives contrast yet lovely balance. It finishes clean with a lingering flinty character. A small proportion of this is actually fermented in oak, not to impart any oaky elements to the flavour because the oak used is neutral having previously released all its oaky character, but simply to produce a more open style of wine. This is an excellent expression of Riesling which would work well with Asian dishes with a bit of heat, any shellfish, white meats or smoked salmon. Try also with some grilled sardines fresh from the BBQ.
JW says... "I just love Riesling, in all its forms, but this has a depth of flavour that makes it stand out."
