The Novas range from Emiliana - Chile's leading producer of organic and biodynamic wines - is very much their sweet spot in terms of quality and value for money. It sits above their entry-level Adobe range but below their flagship Coyam and their top wine Ge. Here is a trio of three red wines to showcase Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir & Carmenere. One bottle each of the following:
Novas Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, Cachapoal Valley 13.5% - Pure blackcurrant fruit with a hint of cherry, strawberry and a whiff of chocolate. Very gentle use of oak so that the fruit shines. Delicious!
Novas Gran Reserva Pinot Noir 2023, Casablanca Valley 13.0% - A super expression of Pinot Noir that captures the ripe, summer fruit character of the variety with just enough oak to add complexity. Burgundy has nothing at this price level of this quality.
Novas Gran Reserva Carmenere 2024, Colchagua Valley 13.5% - Concentrated black fruit flavours here with real depth and just a hint of oak and a gentle leafiness which is characteristic Carmenere- the red variety that Chile really has made it's own.
