Organically grown 85% Carmenere and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon with a deep red colour, concentrated bramble and blackcurrant nose with that characteristic Carmenere hint of leafiness. 80% of this spends 10 months in French oak with 10% in Foudres and the remaining 10% in stainless steel. The oak is very well managed and shows only gently on the palate to lift the ripe Carmenere fruit. This is just about as good an example of Carmenere as you’ll find and it’s a grape variety well worth getting to know.
Emiliana is the first Chilean company to become Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC®), an international accreditation for regenerative organic agriculture which currently represents the highest standard of sustainable agriculture in the world. The practices of this certification pursue healthy soils, animal welfare, and dignity for workers. In January 2023 Emiliana furthered their commitment to sustainable practices and obtained B Corp Certification. This international accreditation highlights the world's largest organic winery as a company that meets high standards of social, environmental, and economic impact.
JW says: "Fans of chunky red wines should be taking notice of Carmenere, especially when it shows this level of concentration and depth. This is full of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit all rounded out with gentle use of oak. Excellent value for money."
