Masters Eight Songs Shiraz 2021, Peter Lehmann, Barossa Valley, South Australia 14.5%

This is a brilliant expression of Barossa Shiraz with concentrated dark fruit and gentle spice.  This is firm and silky with great depth and concentration.  The fruit is harvested in the cool of the early morning and fermented on its skins for up to 2 weeks.  Different parcels from different locations are fermented separately and then the final blend is assembled before the wine spends 18 months in French oak (40% new, 60% older).  What results is a wonderfully complete wine which shows the softer, more elegant side of Barossa Shiraz with beautifully integrated oak and a silky texture.  It is perfect for drinking now.
