Nelson sits at the north-western tip of New Zealand's South Island alongside Marlborough and both regions produce top quality Sauvignon Blanc. Whilst Sauvignon Blancs from Marlborough typically show aromas of grass, nettles and gooseberries those from Nelson have more of a tropical and citrus fruit character with the green vegetation elements more in the background, but this still delivers everything you'd expect from Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc.
This is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards in Tasman, Upper Moutere and Waimea Plains with the grapes cold pressed and remaining on their lees for 8 months prior to bottling. It shows zesty citrus of lime and pink grapefruit with a hint of passion fruit which follow through onto the palate where there is breadth and freshness and a touch of salinity. There is no use of oak. It is wonderfully fresh and mouthwatering. Clever stuff. Try this with fish or seafood, goat's cheese dishes or lighter vegetarian fayre.
