Three different bottles of Gamay. Two from France and one from Australia showcasing this red grape variety well-known for producing lighter, fresh and fruity red wines which are perfect for warmer weather.
One bottle each of the following wines which may all be served cool if desired:
Beaujolais Villages (non filtre) 2022, Manoir du Carra, Beaujolais, France 13.0% - We have to start with Beaujolais which is Gamay's spiritual home. Here is an excellent Villages with all that classic Beaujolais character of red fruits and a degree of minerality.
Uva Non Grata Gamay 2024, Vin de France 12.5% - In many respects a Beaujolais look-a-like though unlike the Villages above which is much better for a few years in bottle, this is best drunk young and fresh. Full of vibrant red fruit flavours.
Pentagon Gamay 2024, Pyren Vineyard, Pyrenees, Victoria, Australia 13.8% - Something completely different showing another side of Gamay. This is still fresh and juicy but rounder and softer than the French versions with velvety texture. I think this will win a lot of friends!
