We've been wanting to issue a trio like this for ages and now have the wines to do it.  All 3 wines have a degree of extra ripeness because of the way they've been made.  You can read a short summary of the three methods below.  One bottle each of the following:

Barbera Passito 2021, Fazzoletto, Piemonte 14.5% - A deep, juicy red with concentrated damson fruit and hints of ripe cherry and a well-rounded finish.

Passito - A wine made from grapes which have been partially dried before fermentation.  Quite often a process used to make sweet wines but the version here is a dry where the sugar has all been fermented out leaving just the extra ripeness in the resulting red wine.

Uggiano Governo Toscano 2023, IGT Tuscany 13.5% - Chianti in all but name because of the way it's made.  This is gently savoury with ripe bramble fruit and wonderful concentration.

Governo - A traditional Tuscan method of winemaking where the fermentation of the main harvest is commenced but a proportion of grapes are left to dry on the vines to be picked later.  These extra ripe grapes are then harvested and added either during or after the initial fermentation to either prolong or re-start the original fermentation.  This adds richness and softens the resulting wine.

Urban Park Leggero Appassimento 2021, Montresor, Veneto 14.0% - From lightly dried grapes offering some of the richness associated with Amarone but in a fresher and more approachable style.

Appassimento - Partially drying the grapes before fermentation thus concentrating their flavour, sugar content and tannins.  This is the process used to produce Amarone and is more common in Veneto than anywhere else in Italy.  The grapes for Urban Park spend 30 days drying on the vine before being picked.
