76% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Chenin Blanc, 2% Semillon. This is appealing and serious on the nose towards the citrusy end of the spectrum with a firm, flinty thing going on as well. The palate retains that citrusy focus which is an absolute delight.  The Sauvignon takes the leading role with grassy notes, but there's more to it than that because the Chenin adds ripeness and the Semillon adds a bit of flesh making a fascinating, complex and harmonious blend.

JW says: "Some people love Sauvignon Blanc while others criticise it for being a bit of a one-trick-pony in terms of flavour and style.  This blend takes Sauvignon to the next level though with the addition of Chenin and Semillon, both of which bring added ripeness and body which, in turn, enables some very gentle oak influence to be added.  What results is Sauvignon taken to a different dimension, still with that grassy element, but with notes of ripe citrus and pear and a fuller mouthfeel.  I think this is a fabulous glass of white wine with a real point of difference."

Waterkloof estate was founded in 2004, ending Paul Boutinot's persistent and uncompromising 10 year search for a vineyard site with the potential to produce truly fine wine with a defining sense of origin.
