The second wine of Chateau Potensac which is a well-regarded property in the Medoc, about a mile or so west of Ordonnac. There are some decent Cru Bourgeois here and nine were designated as Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 2003 of which Potensac is one. It is under the same ownership (the Delon family) as Chateau Leoville-Las-Cases in Saint-Julien so you can always be assured of very high quality wines. 2018 was a particularly ripe vintage but this retains the freshness and structure typical of the Medoc.
This is a blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with some hints of cedar and spice and well-integrated tannins. A nicely mature claret for current drinking. A comprehensive factsheet with further tasting notes is available by clicking here.
