From vineyards in the Monferato Hills where Barbera is the most important variety. This wine is aged in French oak for 12 months. Mostly these are 2nd or 3rd fill though 10-15% new oak is used. The oak influence is very gentle though and only serves to highlight the wonderfully savoury Barbera fruit. This has a nose of black cherry, plum and toasted spice and flavours of plum and cherry and the slightest hint of chocolate. Drink with hearty casseroles or stews, duck or pork.
