Dry and full with an achingly pretty bouquet of honeysuckle and long, peachy flavours. This is one of the finest incarnations of Viognier that exists. It oozes class and elegance with ripe fruit yet there is a degree of restraint also, which makes it irresistible.
Yves took over the family Domaine of just two to three hectares in 1987 and he now owns and leases over 45 hectares. He makes wines of a consistently high standard and in many ways we wish we could find room for more, but this Viognier, whilst nominally under the designation of IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) is as good as many producers' Condrieu. This has 8 months of ageing with a third of the wine in barrels, a third in foudres (massive barrels that each hold about 30,000 litres) and a third in vats.
