Lirac is a Rhone Cru with a difference. In general, the wines are softer than its peers. Here, it’s all about the Grenache with finesse. The terroir in this part of the Rhone is classic well drained limestone covered with a layer of red clay and pebble. The climate is classic Mediterranean with the mistral wind playing a key role. This a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, all hand-harvested, crushed and traditionally macerated. After fermentation in traditional concrete vats, the wine is bottled to capture the finesse of the wine. This is intense and richly flavoured with youthful freshness. The palate is full and concentrated with generous ripe black fruit and a firming nudge of tannin.
