Chateau de Belleverne is now run by the second and third generations of the Bataillard family who have vineyards in Chenas, Saint-Amour, Julienas and Moulin-a-Vent. Their vines are over 50 years old and all managed following HVE (High Environmental Value) principles. The grapes are all hand picked and kept cool prior to fermentation. Increasingly the grapes are also fully de-stemmed before crushing to gain complexity and reduce the hard tannins in the resulting wine.
Beaujolais from Chenas tends to be fuller and sturdier than many of the other village crus and this is no exception. The Gamay fruit is fresh and juicy on the nose and full and ripe on the palate with a velvet-like finish. A fine example of Cru Beaujolais.
