Bright and appealing with fresh tropical fruit and citrus blossom notes, nuances of rose-petal, lemongrass and ginger. The palate is dry and fresh, rich and ripe with crisp acidity.
Torrontes originates in Galicia and came to Argentina with Spanish invaders. The fruit for this wine is grown in old vineyards are which among the highest in the world at 1900 metres. They are surrounded by giant cacti, some are 200 years old and twenty feet tall, which can be thick with frost in the early morning, yet a few hours later the temperature is in the high twenties. This extreme diurnal difference emphasises the aromatics of the whites, while the prolonged mountain sunlight ensures profound colour in their reds. This is a small family business; the estate was established in 1890, though the vineyard and the winery were fully restored in the 1990’s. The property is in Cafayate and the intent of the main company team is to express the unique high altitude character of Cafayate through their wines. The individuality of Torrontes, especially from this site, puts it well with Asian spice. Try with hot and sour dishes or a creamy curry.
