2018 Chateau Tour Renaissance, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 13.0%

This is dark in colour and ripe and concentrated in the mouth. There is plenty of fruit with a gentle underscore of oak. May be drunk now but could be kept if required.

The Mouty family began their Bordeaux adventure in 1924 when Donat Mouty bought Château du Barry. In 1964 his son, Noel, and his wife added her property, Domaine des Grands Ormes to the family estate. Château Tour Renaissance was acquired by Daniel and Francoise Mouty in 1982, Château Rambaud in 1986 and Château Grand Beauséjour, Pomerol between 1988 and 1992. Today their son Bertrand and his sister Sabine are in charge. Château Tour Renaissance is a 4ha property on gravel, 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. A cold pre-fermentation precedes fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 16 months ageing in barrique, 50% new, 50% I year old. It is deep in colour, rich and well-balanced. The 2006 vintage received Coup de Coeur in the 2010 Guide Hachette so they clearly know what they're doing!
