A superior Pink from the best Rose address in France - Tavel produces Rose for grown-ups with subtle power, a full but bone dry palate and satisfying body. This is bigger than the uber-fashionable Provence Pinks and will take on a big bowl of bouillabaisse with ease. Do not expect an explosion of summer fruit flavours for this is more nuanced with a dry, lean and slightly savoury edge.
Domaine de la Rocaliere is a family domaine with 42ha of vineyards - 20 ha in Tavel, 20ha of Lirac and 2ha of Vin de Pays with an average age of 30 years, this is has been in the hands of the Borrelly family for about 18 years, and is run by sisters Séverine, the winemaker, and Melanie who see their work as a continuing adventure. Having been certified Organic since the 2014 vintage, the domaine has been converted to Biodynamie certified by Demeter, and the first wine produced under this system is this 2020 Tavel. The Tavel vineyard has 3 soil types: sandy, galets roulés and limestone pavement. It is Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre, macerated in stainless steel for about 24 hours and is a blend of free run juice (saignée) and pressed wine. Each variety is vinified separately at low temperature to produce a seductive and lightly spicy rosé.
