This is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and a splash of Malbec which is married in one of the most technically advanced wineries in South Africa. All the initial action takes place in stainless steel after which the blend is held in French oak for a year, though none of it new wood - it’s all 3rd, 4th and 5th fill barrels which does not impart any carpenters’ shop flavours into the wine. Dark and loaded with fruit this will go well with grilled meats, spicy dishes and firm British cheeses. This is full of dark, Cabernet family fruit with blackcurrant richness and a warm plummy note from the Merlot with a subtle note of gentle oak spice.
