Whilst this is entirely approachable now a couple of years in bottle won't do it any harm. It is full with juicy fruit and a youthful nudge of tannin. This has serious depth and the finish is long and gently spicy.
Founded in 1900, the domaine is run by Stéphanie Fumuso, who took over the running of the estate of over 10 hectares from her mother in 2007, who in turn had succeeded her mother in 1985. The 2016 vintage won ‘Coup de Coeur’ in La Revue du Vins de France and for 2014, 2011, 2007 and 2007 in Guide Hachette. The drive for freshness in the wines started in 2003 and Stéphanie says “I like freshness, elegance and fruit in my wines”. The domaine is planted 85% Grenache, with the rest Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Stephanie has a handful of barriques, a couple of demi-muids and a large foudre, the majority being aged in concrete tanks, very much a traditional style. It is aged about 18 months before bottling.
