80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. This is nicely aged claret showing good balance. It's quite gentle, with mild tannins and a complex and mature palate. This is not a wine to keep but rather enjoy now in its glorious maturity.
Noted for being sunnier and drier and than other Bordeaux appellations, the Côtes de Bourg is renowned for producing ripe, Merlot-dominated red wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc – the other classic Bordeaux grape varieties – are also grown at the 21 hectare Château Baron Bellevue, close to the old wine trading port of Bourg.
