This comes from a parcel of vines with an average age of over 55 years (some are 75 years old). It is a fine example of Pinot Noir with a beautifully perfumed nose and tremendous elegance and length.
In awarding him Coup de Coeur for his 2009 Volnay 1er Cru ‘Champans’ Guide Hachette calls him “a prophet in his own land”! After spending 13 years working under his father Henri, Didier took over the domaine in 2003, in 2004 buying 0.65ha of Aloxe Corton and in 2005 0.45ha of Meursault, enlarging their vineyard holding to 14.5 ha. They planted the 3ha Hautes Cotes de Beaune blanc in 1990 and the 3.35ha of rouge above Pommard in 1999. His is a very pure style with great finesse and clarity. This is one of two beautifully defined Hautes-Cotes de Beaune. The white sees no oak and is silky, fresh and elegant. Likewise this red, a supple, fresh pure expression of Burgundian Pinot Noir produced from one of the best clones, in Burgundy, Petit Pinot which give the quality, and produced half in cuve and half in barrique.
