Black Friday & Stock Issues

My daughter has been looking to buy a television.  Being the organised person that she is, she has done her research checking prices at both local and national retailers.  She has been watching the online prices daily which, interestingly, are identical for this particular make and model wherever she looks.

Recently the retailers she has been monitoring all advertised “Black Friday” deals so she checked the prices again.  All were unchanged.  In a way this is reassuring because (a) it means that the retailers aren’t making special deals available just for today and (b) at least they are not doing what some observers report and actually putting their prices UP on Black Friday hoping to make the most of the customer feeding frenzy.

As you will recall, we don’t do Black Friday here at Wines of Interest.  We publish a range of deals in November to run until the end of December. You can view those deals here – they are available online but not in the shop.  We also have some Christmas Mixed Cases for you to consider as well.  Again, these need to be ordered online in advance.

We always suggest that you buy sooner rather than later for the festive season, but this is especially important this year with global supply chain issues leading to significant stock shortages in certain areas.  These difficulties were recently highlighted by a BBC article which you can read here Warning of wine and spirits shortage at Christmas - BBC News

For what it’s worth our soundbite on these issues, much repeated to personal callers to our shop, is “we may not run out of wine, but we will run out of choice”.

We are already missing several lines and we know that many of them will not return to stock before Christmas.  Here therefore is the current list of lines which are Out Of Stock (in case you were wondering why you couldn’t find these on our website the site is set not to display lines it knows are out of stock). Further down is a list of lines which are running low and we expect to run out of soon.

We are, of course, working on alternatives. Some are already in the New Lines section of the website which you can view by clicking here and more will be added in due course.
