Initially this was pioneered by brands like the widely promoted Cloudy Bay but increasingly more and more producers in New Zealand make Sauvignon Blanc of such high standards that Cloudy Bay seems now to be just another face in a high quality Sauvignon Blanc crowd.Sauvignon Blanc is also widely planted in Australia, particularly in areas such as the Margaret River. Australian Sauvignon Blanc tends to be fuller and more tropical in flavour than New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Chile is also a significant producer of Sauvignon Blanc wines though at perhaps a more commercial level than the top Sauvignon Blancs of France and New Zealand. The Sauvignon Blancs of South Africa are also worth seeking out.
