Wines of Interest >  Argentina
Eric the Wonder Llama is back!Argentina is still to realise its full potential but ultimately will have more to offer than Chile. With its Italian influence as well as the more obvious Spanish, the extraordinary range of climates and exciting resources of old vines in variety, there is some fascinating wine already on the market with masses more to come. Clean fruit, well-defined, clear styles and a desire to do it well rather than do it cheaply, have pushed the country forward, deservedly, into the mainstream. Less richly fruity than most Australian output (a dangerous generalisation, but you catch the drift), a much more varied offer than Chile or California in terms of grape variety and regional difference, yet riper in style than France, Argentina has a massive wine producing future ahead. The amazingly pure Buenas Ondas Malbec and Chardonnay, made from organically grown grapes by Dr Rodolfo and Carla Nale of Bodegas Fabril Alto Verde, illustrate this perfectly.
